Gong Sound Bath

 

For centuries, the gong has been used for healing.  Gong baths, like all types of sound therapy, allow your brain to relax into an alpha-dominant or theta-dominant brainwave state. The gong can help settle anxiety, manage symptoms of stress, and contribute to a greater sense of peace.

Wendy uses a 30” Paiste symphonic gong in her gong bath sessions and to enhance her reiki, breathwork and yoga sessions.

During a session the client enters a deeply relaxed state that ignites the body's own innate healing abilities, helping to balance and restore emotional and physical well-being. Clients may experience feelings of warmth or coolness, tingling, twitching or pulsating energy through the body.  Others can feel like they are in an instant deep meditative state, feel lighter or even fall asleep.  

Gong baths offer a psycho-acoustic gateway to heightened states of awareness and consciousness. The gong is an amazing healing tool because the frequencies surpass the intellectual part of the brain and travel to the core of the cellular system.  The healing sound energy permeates the body, releasing blockages allowing a clear path for physical, mental, spiritual healing and growth. The result is that you can feel calmer, lighter, peaceful and less anxious after a session.

What should I expect during a gong bath?

Experienced lying down on the table, floor or sitting up, each person’s experience is unique. It’s possible for gong bathers to have a range of experiences from visions, to epiphanies, to creative solutions, and even psychedelic-like journeys. As gong baths are a mode of meditation through which the mind can become quiet, you may find that inspiration, new ideas, or breakthroughs come to you.

The harmonics of the sound healing can retune emotional disharmony within us. Most people feel a sense of bliss and peace after a gong bath.

On a physical level, you might experience vibration in the body due to the intense and powerful sound-waves and vibrations produced during gong baths. Some people encounter this energetic clearing in the form of shaking or twitching in the body, usually through the hands and feet.
